A Catholic Bishop in France was removed from his diocese due to his position on various issues. Bishops must have a diocese unless they are excommunicated, and so the church gave him a defunct diocese in the Sahara Desert. An internet expert suggested he set up a Virtual Diocese on the web, which he did. He has received millions of "hits" to his web site since setting it up, and spends several hours a day replying to all of his e-mail. This year, 2005, is the tenth anniversary of his diocese.
